The latest jobs report, showing unemployment 8.6 percent nationally,; Washington state, 8.6 percent; and Spokane County, 8.8 percent, is why we need Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers in?Congress.

Having managed a small business herself, McMorris Rodgers understands the difficulties faced by business owners. That is why she supported HR 4078, The Red Tape Reduction and Small Business Creation?Act.

She understands that job creation is not a function of the government; rather it needs to facilitate an environment where each business can thrive on its own, and then get out of the?way.

Small businesses supply 70 percent of American jobs. However, according to the GAO, in fiscal year 2010 an unprecedented 43 major new regulations were imposed by Washington; total cost of these regulations: over $26.4?billion.

Businesses cannot sustain such a cost burden and remain profitable enough to reinvest capital in additional job creation. I work in a business associated with the construction industry (according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics the construction industry is at a whopping 14.2 percent unemployment rate). Since 2010, we have lost two-thirds of our employees due to lack of?work.

Cathy has my vote because she supports legislation that empowers private sector business. We must get unemployed Americans working?again.
