MOOSIC, Pa. (AP) - New York Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter singled and tested his surgically repaired ankle on the basepaths in his second rehabilitation game with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Sunday.

Working his way back from a twice-broken left ankle, Jeter was the designated hitter in rehab game No. 2 and finished 1 for 2 with two walks and a run. He will play shortstop for the RailRiders on Monday night.

Jeter walked in his first plate appearance and was erased on a double play before hitting a hard base hit through the hole on the left side of the infield his second time at-bat. He later scored on a home run.

After the second walk, he got a chance to run the bases for the first time. He went from first to third on a single to right field and slid into third base with ease.

The 39-year-old Jeter was 0 for 2 with a walk Saturday in his first game since breaking his ankle in the opener of the AL championship series October 13.
